Dougga or Thugga is an archaeological site located in the Téboursouk delegation in northwestern Tunisia. UNESCO ranked this site on the World Heritage List in 1997, considering it to be the "best preserved Roman town in North Africa". The site of Dougga is remarkable for its size - 70 hectares - the good conservation of its monuments and the historical wealth of its Libyan, Punic, Numidian, Romano-African and Byzantine past. Among the famous monuments of Dougga are the Libyco-Punic mausoleum, the Capitol, the theater and the temples of Saturn and Juno Caelestis.
